DOLLA
Saturday, October 16th - Saturday, November 13th, 2004
The Gallery will be open Saturday, November 13th
and Sunday, November 14th from Noon - 6pm
for final viewing of the exhibition.

The Dollhaus presents the paintings, sculpture, drawings,
installations, and kinetic works of Miwa Yagi.
Miwa Yagi started to draw a pretty little doll with very long black hair wearing
a simple red dress with a white collar, little white socks and cute Mary Jane shoes.
Her name is Dolla. Dolla has no eyes...It just so happens that she is also
a little dead Japanese doll who travels alone in a world of the unknown.
Through Miwa Yagi's paintings, sculpture and other delightful multi-media
works we join Dolla on her adventures. Dolla's world is full of black cats,
angels who fly backwards, fresh strawberries, faceless twins hiding and
whispering mischievously in the woods, bondage babies, and floating beheaded,
beautiful, longhaired little girls. Dolla is always in nature, because that is where
she belongs. Dolla travels alone in haunting scenery and luscious landscapes,
there are always plenty of flowers. Miwa's work is disturbingly colorful
and well executed. She is extremely original and has invented a whole
body of work that is bursting with an intricate, fascinating imagination.
